Spending time with the Montana girls that are missed so much!

Although I only get to see my girls usually once a year, the time spent with them will forever leave memories never to be forgotten. It seems as if it wasn't that long ago that we (Amy, Katie and I) started babysitting Jessica, the oldest of the four children the Paul's have now. She was only 6 months old, and as cute as a button and she is now 9 and very grown up. We also got to babysit Jenna, the second child, and we were able to see Jaeda the third child a few times before they ventured to Wyoming, where their new home would be. They now have a new edition to the family, Jordan who is the only boy. Being able to see him for the first time when they visisted brought back fond memories of when the girls were that little. When they moved to Montana having to say goodbye was a very hard thing to do as these little girls so easily became a part of our lives. I think it hit my mom the hardest, a part of her heart left with them when they moved. I am very grateful that they are able to come back to Nebraska, and it makes me happy to know that they get very anxious to go to the "Barry" house again, to have a sleepover. When they came down at the end of February our sleep over entailed, bidding contests, dressing up in old prom dresses (yes that included Amy, Katie and I) playing the wii, coloring, photo shoot sessions and having a great time. Being able to see these girls brings a warm feeling to my heart. I love them so much. And although they are miles and miles away, they are yet so close.

Colorado

Once again my family and I went on our annual Christmas trip to Denver. We made a stop in Colorado Springs first to visit our great grandma and great aunt Shirley. It was good seeing them. This year we decided to do something a little different other than shop....we went ice skating as well. Besides my dad and mom, my sisters and I had never ice skated before. We thought we were in for quite an adventure. Thankfully there were no broken bones. It was a lot of fun. My Aunt Kathy was able to join us which was really fun, and my Uncle Rodney was able to meet our family out there later to do dinner. It was good spending time with people that I love and having a good time as well. I love Colorado!!!

Nursing School

I am currently in nursing school and I can gladly say that I have my first semester of school under my belt. I am living in Omaha attending the College of Saint Mary. I absolutely love my school. I love all the people that I attend school with and enjoy all of my teachers. I had an extremely busy first semester being able to actually start clinicals right away. I saw things I never imagined I would see, and learned even that much more. I was actually able to get a feel of what a true nurse is. At the end of the semester I was able to fully insert an IV on a patient, and yet to think I was nervous to give my first shot. Being in nursing school has made me realize quite a few things....you can't take life for granted...and being sick is a part of life. I loved being able to work with my patients one on one and I even managed to get a few kisses on the hand from a couple of elder patients. The older people get the bigger their hearts are no matter how sick they have become. It's with all of this awesome stuff I was able to endeavor throughout my first semester of nursing school that has made me realize that I LOVE what I am going into. I wouldn't change one thing about it.
